AFN (Antegrade Femoral Nail)
The Antegrade Femoral Nail (AFN) is an intramedullary device for treating femoral shaft fractures, as well as combinations of shaft fractures with subtrochanteric and femoral neck fractures approaching the medullary canal just lateral from the greater trochanter tip
- Pre-contoured– The nail’s anatomical pre-contouring helps it fit better into the medullary canal and makes it easier to insert
- Cannulated– The cannulation allows the nail to be inserted over a central wire, either reamed or unreamed
- Hip screw– The 6.3 mm hip screw provides a good hold on the femoral head
- Threaded screw holes– The proximal screw holes are threaded to prevent the screws from backing out
